1955 was a milestone for Volkswagen in more ways than one. It was the year that the millionth VW Beetle was produced and it coincided with the formation of the Volkswagen Club of WA Inc.
The Volkswagen Club of WA membership varies from the family with their Kombi Camper or Passat, to the Uni student with their aged Beetle or Golf, from the mechanic who has his competitive version to the enthusiast with their customised love affair. The numbers include both air and water-cooled version.
The Day of the Volkswagen is the biggest event on the Club's calendar. In addition, at least one Club run or event per month is organised. This could be an easy run with picnic, a visit to a country town, a meal at a restaurant, attendance at a car show, ten pin bowling or any other event members request.
All the Volkswagen Clubs around Australia have an annual get together at Easter for a National VW Bug-In. Each state takes it in turn to host this event with WA hosting in 2016. See NATIONAL VW CLUB BUG-IN page for current information.
The Club produces a magazine known as VWWA in which announcements, meetings, technical tips, general news and members advertisements are to be found.
Our membership covers all corners of the state, so not all members can attend all events all the time. The Volkswagen Club of WA Inc has always had a committee which has endeavoured to provide a sturdy foundation on which the Club can be built.
